UNLV CSUN and The Jump for Joy Foundation present ?Rebels Fighting Obesity? on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the UNLV SRWC.

The largest health and fitness event on UNLV?s campus in history is going to be a day to remember. This event is expected to have over 500 people in attendance. Participants will take part in multiple fitness and nutrition stations throughout the day.

While the parents & college students are experiencing workshops on Positive Psychology, Stress Management, Healthy Nutrition, and Interactive Fitness, the children will be having a ton of fun in their classes as well. Children?s workshops include Hip Hop Dance, Boxing (Self-Defense / Martial Arts), Cross Fit kids, and interactive field games.

This event will have over 50 vendors from all areas of the wellness industry. Parents, college students and anyone wanting to attend are encouraged to enjoy our mini Health Expo within the Rebels Fighting Obesity Camp Jump.

This event is FREE for EVERYONE. Children ages 3 to 17 are welcome.

Touro University will be providing FREE HEALTH ASSESSMENTS at this event. Assessments include blood glucose testing, body fat percentage, BMI, height, weight, blood pressure and much more?

DJ Miss Joy will be on hand spinning the coolest and funkiest jams for our participants to enjoy.

KIDS WORKSHOPS:

CROSS FIT KIDS:
Rancho Cross Fit is leading the way exercise enthusiasts are getting and staying healthy. Their program consists of ?WOD? (workout of the day) and will implement a fun theme like baseball to engage participants. Kids will get a great workout and learn proper ways of working out during this station.

BOXING (SELF-DEFENSE):
Henry Namuu and Lightning Lonnie Smith will teaching the kids about self defense and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Proper form and technique along with a cardio routine will surely get these kids active!

HIP HOP DANCE:
KB of the Jabbawockeez and Joe Smith of So You Think You Can Dance will be teaching the kids all about hip hop dance. Dancing is a form of fitness and a great way to get your daily exercise in. Each group will be learning two 8 counts of hip hop choreography.

FIELD GAME DEMO:
It doesn?t have to be a lot of money and energy to get the kids active. All you need is a few simple games to get them moving and sweating while having fun! At this event we will play a game that the kids can remember and will want to play with all their friends every lunch, recess, or during the long summers off from school. As long as children get outside and play like children should, they should be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle!

ADULT WORKSHOPS:

STRESS MANAGEMENT:
