MIAMI (AP) ? Jury selection has begun in Miami for the trial of an elderly Muslim cleric and a son accused of funneling tens of thousands of dollars to the Pakistani Taliban terror group.
Prospective jurors on Wednesday were handed detailed four-page questionnaires in the case of Hafiz and Izhar Khan. The judge says the trial could last up to nine weeks, and he told jurors to pay particular attention to the written questions about their ability to be fair in a terrorism case.
The men say the money they sent overseas was for purely innocent purposes. The men are charged with providing material support to terrorists by allegedly funneling about $50,000 to the Pakistani Taliban. They have pleaded not guilty. Charges were dropped against another of Khan's sons.
