"Don't Start Anything Until You Know the Answer."

"Don't Start Anything Until You Know the Answer."Do you ever think of your conversations with others as successful or not? Mike Williams, CEO of The David Allen Company, thinks that you should?and that there's one question you should ask yourself before you start anything.

In an interview with Inc., Williams shared what he believes is the best way to start just about anything in life, even a conversation:

A great way to be significantly more productive is to start anything you're about to do with one question: What does a wildly successful outcome for this meeting, project, conversation?whatever it might be?look like? If you ask that question up front you co-create success: Everyone knows what you're shooting for and actively works towards making it happen.

Williams' suggestion isn't just about visualizing success, it's about setting goals. It may sound selfish at first, but when done properly, you're not building an agenda, you're making it possible for whoever you're working with to openly collaborate with a strong sense of purpose.
